My name is Dean C. and I am a professional educator who resides in Toronto, Ontario. I have been employed in the field of education for over twenty years and am currently a Principal at a very large elementary school. Everyday I work with students, parents, teachers and administrators… and consider myself very fortunate to do so. In truth, as a lifelong learner I feel I still hold all of the aforementioned titles. I will never cease to become a student, parent or teacher just due to a changing job title. I am always an educator first and foremost!
Throughout my many years in education, I have noticed a prevailing lack of clarity in regards to many educational issues. The field of education can often be confusing and extremely difficult to navigate. There are so many specialties and fortes that it is essentially impossible for even the most seasoned educator to know them all. Even when you have finally figured something out and have a great grasp on an area…it changes. Education is a constantly changing and dynamic entity.
As a parent the terms, acronyms and processes we encounter in the education system can often be unintelligible and downright confusing. In fact., there is a term for this and it is called edu-babble. In other words a jargon filled talk which certain people, mainly those employed in education, understand. To be fair, even those in education are constantly trying to figure out what the edu-babble of the day typically means. This is the reason I have created www.edubabbling.com It is my hope I can help parents, students, teachers and administrators navigate the system by open and frank discussions and creation/gathering of resources which help everyone save their time trying to figure things out….and thus in turn spend more time with our children.
